Your questions answered. Here you will find common inquiries regarding our services and events.
What is Sport Inclusion NSW & ACT
Sport Inclusion NSW is the recognised state body for inclusive sport, working alongside Sport Inclusion Australia.
We support athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities by building pathways from grassroots participation to state, national, and international representation.
Who can get involved?
Anyone who wants to play, learn, or contribute to inclusive sport can get involved.
Our community includes athletes, families, schools, coaches, and organisations that share the vision of making sport accessible for everyone across New South Wales.
How do I start playing sport?
You can start by connecting with one of our inclusive programs or partner organisations in your local area.
We help match athletes with suitable sports and provide guidance on how to join training, events, and competitions that suit their goals and abilities.
Do I need to have a classification to participate?
No, classification isn’t required to join local or school-based programs.
However, athletes who wish to compete at state, national, or international levels will need to complete the classification process, which Sport Inclusion NSW can help you with.
What is athlete classification?
Classification helps ensure fair and meaningful competition by grouping athletes based on how their disability impacts performance in sport.
We work with Sport Inclusion Australia to provide accurate, supportive classification opportunities across NSW.
What kinds of sports can I play?
We support inclusion across a wide range of sports — including athletics, basketball, football, futsal, swimming, softball, and more.
Our goal is to ensure every athlete can find a sport that fits their interests, abilities, and ambitions.
Does Sport Inclusion NSW & ACT run programs directly?
We work closely with Sports 4 All, our delivery partner, to bring inclusive programs to life.
While Sport Inclusion NSW focuses on governance, pathways, and advocacy, Sports 4 All delivers local events, programs, and competitions throughout NSW.
How is Sport Inclusion NSW & ACT different from Sports 4 All?
Sport Inclusion NSW is the state governing body that oversees strategy, classification, and partnerships for inclusive sport.
Sports 4 All is the delivery partner responsible for running inclusive sporting programs, school initiatives, and community events that help athletes get involved.
How can schools or clubs get involved?
Schools, clubs, and councils can partner with us to create inclusive programs, host events, or provide opportunities for students and athletes with disability.
Simply reach out through our contact form, and our team will help you get started.
Can I volunteer or coach?
Yes — volunteers, coaches, and officials are essential to inclusive sport.
We offer training, resources, and partnerships to help you develop your skills and make a positive impact in your community.
How do I stay updated on upcoming events?
Follow Sport Inclusion NSW on social media or subscribe to our newsletter for updates on events, programs, and opportunities throughout the year.
